As the laboratory school for Cabrini College, the Children's School provides young men and women majoring in early childhood education an opportunity to observe, do class assignments, and student teach under the guidance of the Children's School's experienced master teachers.
Students in the "Movement for Children" class come weekly during the semester and offer "gym" to our children. A wide variety of developmentally appropriate games and movement exploration activities are introduced. These are enjoyed greatly by our young players.
Education majors plan several events at the Children's School each semester. In recent years, these have included a Harvest Festival, a hop-a-thon to raise money for differently abled children and a Spring Celebration. Early childhood majors also come to the School to develop lesson plans, observe, and learn about play-based assessment and the parent and community involvement aspects of our program.
Other "Cabrini connections" include performances at the School by drama students, weekly swim lessons for our kindergartners at the College pool, presentations at the biology lab, and architectural scavenger hunts on campus.
Families of the Children's School have also participated in the College's Community Kite Festival and the lighting of the Yule Log.
