Keeping Children Safe: Child Victims of Domestic Violence
Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014 5:30–8 p.m. in the Mansion
Educators should be aware that their students may be exposed to domestic violence, which can affect students’ language skills, attention to classroom tasks, and ability to process verbal information, among other challenges.
At this panel discussion and workshop, educators will learn indicators that a child may be suffering trauma, and how to respond effectively.
Panelists will discuss legal responsibilities, utilizing community agencies as resources, and strategies to best teach student victims of domestic violence.
Heavy hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served.
Sponsored by the Barbara and John Jordan Endowed Fund to Promote Domestic Violence Education
Participants will receive a certificate of attendance to present to their school employer for potential professional development hours.
