RADNOR, Pa. (July 14, 2016) — Mary (Harris) Van Brunt, PhD, is one of only 30 administrators in higher education nationwide selected by the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) to participate in the 2016–17 Senior Leadership Academy.
Van Brunt is the founding dean of the School of Business, Arts, and Media at Cabrini University. Since joining Cabrini in 2001, she has served in leadership roles including Chair of the Business Department and Dean of Academic Affairs.
The Academy is designed to prepare prospective leaders to assume positions as the chief officers in any division—including academic affairs, student affairs, finance, enrollment management, and advancement—in independent higher education.
Van Brunt was selected for the year-long program after being identified by Cabrini as having the potential for senior leadership positions in independent colleges or universities.
Van Brunt will participate in an opening seminar in New Orleans, La., Nov. 4–6, 2016, and a closing seminar in Washington, DC, June 22–24, 2017. She also will participate in a mentoring program, work with experts in various aspects of higher education administration, participate in webinars, engage in a series of readings and case studies during the academic year, and follow a professional experiential plan to “fill the gaps” needed for career advancement.
The Academy is co-sponsored by CIC and the American Academic Leadership Institute (AALI). Tom Kepple, president of AALI and president emeritus of Juniata College (PA), is the program director.
