What Not to Bring
In an effort to maintain a healthy and safe living environment, the following items are not permitted in residence halls:
- illegal drugs or drug paraphernalia
- alcohol or other beverage containers for decorative purposes
- firearms of any kind or any item that could be mistaken for a firearm
- weapons of any kind—legal or illegal—including, but not limited to, guns, knives, bow and arrows, martial arts equipment, BB guns, pellet guns, or air guns
- explosives or fireworks of any kind
- volatile liquids and substances of any kind, including but not limited to fuels, open paints, paint thinner, or turpentine
- gasoline motors, including motorcycles and mopeds
- appliances, including but not limited to:
- hot plates, toasters, toaster ovens or air fryers
- electric frying pans or personal grills
- immersion heating coils
- space heaters
- halogen lamps of any kind
- portable air-conditioning units
- octopus outlet plugs and extension cords
- UL-approved circuit breaker power strips are allowed.
- flammable or non-UL-approved decorations, including Christmas decorations
- UL-approved decorations are appropriate, but must never be placed outside of the room or in a dangerous position in the room.
- Hoverboards, Segways or similar electronic skateboard devices, live or cut Christmas trees
- lava lamps
- waterbeds
- major weight-lifting or exercise equipment
- incense or candles of any kind for any purpose
- Hookah pipes
- pets of any kind
- objects to be placed on window ledges or hung from windows
- lofts
- refrigerators larger than 4 cubic feet
- Each room is allowed to have either two 2.0 cubic feet refrigerators or one 4.0 cubic feet refrigerator.
- wicker, paper, or other types of flammable wastebaskets
- paper, cloth, and other types of flammable lamp shades and covers
